BBC tv license


 What is the name of the Act that requires the BBC to issue TV licences and collect a licence fee?
           Applications for and the exercise of search warrants are authorised under section 366 of the Communications Act 2003. The Communications Act 2003 imposes a duty on the BBC to issue TV Licences and collect the licence fee.    

 Who approves the amount each year?
           The Government is responsible for setting the level of the licence fee.        

 How much is the current fee?
           The Government has confirmed that from 1 April 2019 the cost of the annual television licence fee will increase from £150.50 to £154.50.
    
How much in licence fee revenue is lost because of evasion?
           Licence-fee evasion fell from 7.04 per cent to 6.57 per cent. There are now an estimated 1.8 million evaders, costing £270 million in lost revenue. 

How many people are imprisoned for licence fee evasion?
           In England and Wales there are 180,000 prosecutions
